NEW: Shackleton’s Legacy and the Power of Early Antarctic Photography
Marvel at striking images of Shackleton's ill-fated Endurance expedition that brought Antarctica to life in this exhibition in association with the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) at the Shipwreck Treasure Museum
We’re excited to host this exhibition, in association with the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), in Cornwall for the first time. It explores the influences behind Shackleton’s passion for the region through polar photography.
It provides visitors with the opportunity to marvel at a selection of stunning images taken by pioneering photographer Frank Hurley that was commissioned to join the crew.
The striking images chart the trials and tribulations of the Endurance mission in the harshest climate and their daring escapade to survive what seemed certain death.
Access to Shackleton’s legacy and the power of early Antarctic photography is included in the admission to the Shipwreck Treasure Museum from April to October 2022.
